COLOSSEUM: THE ZZT GAME By Kjorteo Kalante www.kjorteo.net husky@kjorteo.net You are Orin, an adventurer/ex-villager from a village that was conquered by Lord Evil. He built a colosseum to which he sends people he doesn't like. Hearing a rumor that people who actually do well there get a chance to face Lord Evil himself, you entered in hopes of defeating him and getting your village back. The people's hearts are with you, but dare they defy Lord Evil? It's all about who has more authority.... --- Yes, the game is dead silent and there is no art board except for the title screen, which was kind of thrown together in KevEdit. I'm a programmer, not an artist or composer. I make objects do things. That's about it. However, the gameplay is pretty solid, and I did use my trademark Gerbil engine for the battles. The game is a little easy, but it fills the niche of "Quick little mini-RPG" for the few hours you have to kill. I don't have a lot else to say, as everything you need to know about how to play and what to do is presented in the actual game. I'll just add that I wish you luck and hope you enjoy! --- FIXES: This is what I noticed was wrong and fixed between the original version and this one. If you already played through the old one and don't want to bother going through the whole thing again, you could, like, un-subtract points for anything from this list that was bad before because it's fixed now. :D * HUGE BUG FIX: You can now recruit Magellan any time after you defeat him. There was a bug that cleared the flag he checked after you entered the second lobby, so your only chance to recruit him was after beating him but BEFORE talking to the guard. This has been fixed, so the window to recruit him should span from his defeat to the very end of the game. * HUGE BUG FIX: You can now refuse to recruit Sasha without her failing to take the message and looping back to when she asks you again. Previously the only way to end conversation with her was to say yes and either recruit her or have her scold you for not having enough Authority to recruit her. She should now take no for an answer. * Minor graphical tweak: Fixeed all the lobby rooms so that the borders around the top passages (ie werewolves/magellan, Iron Lord/Lord Evil) are two tiles thick instead of one, like the entire rest of the rooms. They should match now instead of looking different. * Minor text tweak: Pluralized and de-capitalized all references to the goblins when you use a physical attack (from Orin or Janus.) In other words, it should now say "You bash the goblins for ___ damage" instead of "You bash the Goblin for ___ damage." (Same with Janus' strike command.) * Minor text tweak: Fixed a typo in the guy in the introduction and first lobby who explains all about the game mechanics. When talking about the Authority system, he now says "people are willing to support you" instead of "wiling." All for now, Kjorteo
