The Great Mystery of Cheops was the development version of the game
which was to be known as "Kheops - Suuri Mysteeri".

The game was originally developed with English texts, but the publisher
decided that the game should be in Finnish for better local sales. For this
reason, the English version was never released to the public back in 1993.
This release has been patched by the original author for the summer 2022
release, so that the intro section has also been translated, to provide a
complete English version of the game.

The English instructions provided in this release are a direct translation of
the Finnish instructions. For this reason, some discrepancies are present,
mainly with regards to how the game should be launched. With this release,
.bat launchers are provided for your convenience if you are not familiar with
DosBox.

Install DosBox:
1. Download DosBox from https://www.dosbox.com/
2. Install DosBox with the "Desktop shortcut" option.

There are three .bat launchers you can use to run the game. You should drag
and drop the launcher you wish to use onto the DosBox shortcut on your
desktop.

1. Cheops installation REQUIRED STEP - FIRST TIME ONLY
  - Drag Install.bat onto the DosBox shortcut.
  - Safe choices for the soundcard are: 1) for Sound Blaster and then
                                        2) 220h for the address.
  - At the next step, run the speed test with option 1)
  - After the test completes, type exit and press enter.

2. Playing the game
  - Cheops.bat launches the game with the intro section.
  - Cheopsno.bat launches the game without the intro section.
  - Drag the .bat you would like to start onto the DosBox shortcut

3. When asked for Paletti, enter 1.

NOTE! 
The pause button in the in-game menu (P), does not work. If used, the game
will get stuck in the paused state.

Alt+Enter changes DosBox between windowed and fullscreen modes.

After you have finished playing the game, you can exit DosBox by typing exit
and pressing enter.
