Aleshar v1.3 Public Domain Due to some occasional requests, Aleshar was released as freeware. We, as the authors, hereby release this piece of software. Original documents were left as is, but all statements forbidding copying, distribution and reverse engineering are voided as of now. In other words, this piece of software is now your property. Do with it as you wish. Some quick notes: Unfortunately, the game is not completely free of bugs (a relatively safe statement about any piece of software) and absolutely no support is provided. Aleshar requires a rather high amount of conventional memory when run with sounds using SB cards. Functionality with SB16 was never completely trouble-free. Gravis Ultrasound cards will function best, but GUS support requires 512k of card memory. In addition, some 3 megs of EMS is required. XMS or DPMI memory will not do. Temporary files are used, so working directory when running the game should not be on a ROM device or a full hard drive. SVGA modes require VBE2.0 compliant bios. Failing to provide that will lead to corrupted screen and/or system crash. FWIW, display is identical in all resolution modes. High resolutions feature a real-time interpolation algorithm for smoother display. Our graphician never liked this. :) In case of a problem, first try playing without sound and using standard VGA. Configuration is provided by INSTALL.EXE. This configuration should work under Win95, Win98, WinNT4 and possibly other OSes. Sounds may never work under any of these OSes. Source code requests may or may not be considered. Mail us with any questions but please don't ask for support. - Hypothermia http://www.dlc.fi/~jannep - - - Check out Ossi's new project: http://www.exile-studios.com/ ossi@exile-studios.com Check out Vesa's pages: http://www.dlc.fi/~warder/ warder@dlc.fi To contact Janne: jannep@dlc.fi or janne@remedy.fi
