NIGHT FLIGHT TO BAGHDAD March 16th, 1997 Final 1.0 by Forest Pearson, fpearson@yknet.yk.ca ====================================================== Well, here it is in final form, my one mission F117 Stealth Fighter sim set at the outset of the Gulf War. Hope you enjoy! INSTALLATION: The base sim is inclosed in F117.ZIP - unzip the sim to a directory, but ensure you use the -d switch to rebuild directories. This is necessary for the sim to function properly. For example: pkunzip f117.zip c:\f117 -d Start the sim with F117.BAT. There is also an optional (but REALLY COOL) multimedia front end. This is f117_FE.ZIP. Simply unzip this file into your F117 directory. To start the sim now, type F117 (the EXE will run, and not the BAT). That's it! Oh, ya, if you want sound, don't forget your soundcard must be set to IRQ 7, otherwise, you will only get PC-beeps. Sorry. ======================================================= FLYING THE F117 The plane handles pretty well, probably much better than the real 'Wobbly Goblin' - she has trouble flying less than 60% thrust, and stalls with full flaps just under 100knots - so a bit of a hot ship, but I think that is the way it is. Also, don't forget to trim the plane out once you get to cruise speed and altitude - use the KEYPAD + and KEYPAD - to trim. She will tend to fly a little 'nose-up' at cruise, so put the trim down a bit to get a nice flight. The mission is basically to take off from your airbase in Saudi Arabia, fly to Baghdad (about 10min direct flight), attack the Intelligence Headquarters, and land at home safely. The world is modeled at half scale (otherwise it would be too boring to fly the length of Iraq) but your fuel is adjusted accordingly! Navigation is complicated by the inoperative compass, so become familiar with the Waypoint system and DME's. There are lots of neat things to see in this sim, for example, Tomahawk attacks F111 bombing, circling AWACS, and very rich cities...even Saddam's palace! Feel free to explore. ======================================================= Anyway, have fun, and don't forget to register (see USAGE.TXT) -Forest Pearson This sim was created using Flight Sim Toolkit (FST) - for more information on FST, check out my unoffical FST homepage at: http://mineral.uafsme.alaska.edu/ferret/fst/fst.html
