You can simply drag and drop the file FCONF.BAT over the DOSBox icon to start playing. Experienced DOSBox users may choose other methods of startup. For playing instructions and other information, please refer to the electronic manual (FC.DOC) found in the FC directory. !!! IMPORTANT !!! Future Conflict requires DOSBox to set EMS emulation to EMM386 for the Sound Blaster sound effects to work properly. EMM386 emulation is not supported in the official DOSBox build v0.74-3 available from www.dosbox.com. Future Conflict will likely crash if you use this version of DOSBox. You will need a newer SVN build of DOSBox (based on updated code from the official repository) that enables EMM386 emulation. This build is available from the DOSBox ECE website (please scroll down to the bottom of the page): https://dosboxece.yesterplay.net/ If you use the supplied FCONF.BAT file to start the game, it will switch to EMM386 emulation automatically, but you can also change this setting manually: Open your DOSBox SVN configuration file in a text editor of your choice and find the following line: ems=true Change this to: ems=emm386 Save and close the configuration file. Note that other games might not need EMM386 or not support it, so you'll need to revert to the default ems setting manually. However, if you use the FCONF.BAT method, DOSBox will only switch to EMM386 for the duration of playing Future Conflict. This distribution of Future Conflict may or may not work with other third-party DOSBox versions that are available. ============================================================================== * Special thanks * Thanks to ripsaw8080 from the VOGONS forums for providing the sound effects fix (IRQ unmasking tool): https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=978596#p978596 ============================================================================== * Game related websites * Official game page (access via the Wayback Machine): http://members.xoom.com/dosuser/fc.htm NOTE: Some sites are only available as copies made by the Wayback Machine: http://web.archive.org/ ============================================================================== * Disclaimer * THE GAME DATA IN THIS ARCHIVE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND WITHOUT ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING AND NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
