Conquest 4000, a TradeWars 2002 inspired game, but with graphics. Navigate and explore the 1,000 sectors, collect Energy, Water, Fuel Ore, pick Colonists and engage in epic battles. Sell your cargos at the Space Station to upgrade or buy a new ship. When you embark on your journey, use the mouse to move your ship, shoot and access your NavCon (Navigation console). Right-click to access your NavCon. To warp to a different sector, click on a number at top left. Sector #1 is where the Space Station is located. To dock with the Space Station, click DOCK in our NavCon CI (Command Interface). In the Space Station, you can buy stuff, see ship’s specifications, upgrade ships and weapons. Right-click again to exit the NavCon. Each sector has its own particularity. If you see a planet, try to attack it. With the long-range sensor scan (F5), it’s easier to choose your next sector to explore. Some sectors are protected by Space Patrol; be careful, as they are well armed and shielded. You may also encounter an asteroid field, do not get hit by one or you will end up in your Escape Pod in no time. You must watch out for Space Pirates, they can jam your NavCon and the only way out is by defending yourself to the death or surrendering. Turning the Cloaking device on is a good way to survive an attack. Are you cornered by the Space Pirates or the Space Patrol? You can launch a Mine (F3) to wipe them all, but do not use it too much as it destroys everything including the transporter, so you won’t be able to collect Energy, Water or Fuel Ore. In the game, press CTRL-F11 to slow down or CTRL-F12 to accelerate the emulator. I recommend pressing CTRL-F12 two or three times to make the game more fluid. Have fun! I was able to retrieve this version from an old floppy disk backup. After working many months and adding many features (if you look at the zip file, you can see the features had already been designed in the .PCX files) my computer had a hard drive crash and I lost all my work on the game. At the same time, I got a job as a software developer for a museum in Montreal. I never worked on the game after that, until now… TIPS: Press F10, you will go to the command prompt, type SECTOR and a new Universe will be generated. Type WAR and you will go back to the game.
